What a lovely day we spent at this village. We learned how to play the drums, learned much of the history of 5 historical tribes, including Zulu. Had a fantastic buffet lunch with traditional food. Just a great day!!!

He showed all the areas of Soweto! Each area was rich with history & stories from his childhood. The people we met were wonderful & eager to share their lives with us. Lesedi Cultural Village was definitely worth a trip and can easily be recommended. However, what impressed us the most was our guide from Tsalanang Tours. He was incredibly knowledgeable and reflective, and gave good, thoughtful answers to all our questions about everything from Soweto and Mandela, to various ethnic groups in Africa and South Africa's challenges today. He was otherwise very helpful and pleasant, gave good tips about places to eat and things to experience in Johannesburg and elsewhere. We are incredibly satisfied, and can strongly recommend Tsalanang Tours.
An absolute MUST do!. This is a hidden gem amongst the available visits around the Johannesburg area.South Africa is rich in cultural history. The Lesedi Cultural Village brings it all together. We were introduced to Zulu, Xhosa, Ndebele, Sotho and Pedi villages, customs, music and dance. We played drums, introduced ourselves in 5 different languages (or we tried :) ) and got to ask questions. It is clear that these folks have a passion for sharing the amazing cultures here in South Africa.We had been with Thabang while learning about Soweto, so we were thrilled when he was available to join us here. Please, take a short trip to Lesedi Village. Learn, share, experience and be surrounded by the sights, sounds and music of South Africa's native cultures. We ended our time at Lesedi with a delightful lunch that introduced us to some traditional South African food. DO NOT MISS THIS!
It was the most eye-opening tour we have ever had. Our guide was very knowledgeable and explained everything to us. As being a local and had grown up in Soweto he knew from his own experience. We highly recommend this tour if you want to learn more about the history of Soweto.
The Lesedi Cultural village experience was spectacular. The staff were welcoming. The entertainment was so much fun. We learnt a lot about the different tribes in South Africa, their different norms and cultures and of course their amazing African cuisine. I highly recommend this tour and well as our amazing tour guide, Thabang!
What a great tour! BEST TOUR GUIDE EVER!!!! Thanbang was incredible from the start. He got to know us briefly and then made suggestions to the tour to best meet our needs. We always felt safe and secure in his presence. His knowledge of the history of SA along with his vision for the future was a welcomed dialogue from such an astute young man. If you want an immersive experience, I highly recommend this tour. You will not be disappointed!
The tribe villages are interesting and we enjoyed the outstanding tour and tribal dancing. Amazing tour leader and friendly staff. The village really teaches people about the different cultures in SA. Fun jumbee introduction lesson. The market is full of lovely souvenir.
